Baychester is a neighborhood in the northeastern the Bronx in New York City, bounded by Boston Road and Tillotson Avenue on the northwest, the Hutchinson River on the east, Gun Hill Road and Allerton Avenue on the south, and Laconia Avenue on the west. Main roads in Baychester include East Gun Hill Road, Eastchester Road, and Allerton Avenue. The Co-op City housing development is in the eastern part of the area. The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community Board 12.
Baychester has a rather suburban feel, except for the Co-op City housing area. Most residents live in one to three family detached brick homes and are of Afro-Caribbean, Italian, and Latino descent. The neighborhood has experienced a surge in housing development, with more units being built on the last remaining plots of lands.
